Membership and Fundraising: Why and how
Joining Bathgate PTA costs $17.50 per school year per member. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are welcome to join as PTA members too! $6.60 of the $17.50 goes to our Capistrano Unified Council to support administrative and advocacy costs. The remaining $10.90 per member goes to our "unit" or school.
The purpose of fundraising is to support carefully chosen programs aligned with our mission. Our PTA bylaws strictly mandate that PTA funds are used solely on programs available to all students, whether or not you are a member. EVERY child is included in every PTA sponsored program (field trips, Meet the Masters, Accelerated Reader, etc).
Bathgate PTA directly solicits donations via PTA Fall Membership Drive, The Fun Run, and our Spring Book Fair. PTA also raises needed funds through other voluntary events such as merchant rebate programs & small fundraisers. Bathgate PTA must raise over $75,000 annually to maintain all of our current programs (breakdown below). Note, as a Bathgate PTA member, you have a the liberty of reviewing our finances at any time. As a non-profit organization, our PTA must be completely transparent with its funds.
Becoming a PTA member does NOT mean you need to volunteer! As a Bathgate PTA member, you are welcome to attend our Association Meetings AND vote. You will NOT be asked to volunteer if attending a meeting; it is your right to attend and be informed as a member. We're a child advocacy group so children are always welcome at our meetings!

- 59% on student enrichment, which includes reading programs, Art Programs, Spelling Bee, Field Trips, P.B.I.S, Year round activities, P.E. equipment, books for the library, fiduciary agreement with Bathgate, among many other programs. *
- 13% on Teacher Reimbursements. *
- 15% programs & events for families*
- 5% on hospitality*
- 8% Operation expenses like copies, website fees, office supplies, District and State PTA dues (for their administrative and advocacy costs)*
How you can contribute:
- You can now purchase your membership online!
- One or both parents can become PTA members (other family members and neighbors can also join).
- Participate in school events like the Family Fun Nights, purchase spirit wear and patronize our Book Fairs.
- Make a pledge for your child/children during our Fall & Spring Fundraisers and spread the word with friends & family.
- Donate time, supplies, or money.
